What You Missed
Here is what you missed on Sunday. Our message was "Living In Spiritual Darkness" and our scripture lesson came from the book of:

Jonah 2

Jonah's Prayer
1 From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God. 2 He said:
"In my distress I called to the LORD,
and he answered me.
From the depths of the grave [a] I called for help,
and you listened to my cry.

3 You hurled me into the deep,
into the very heart of the seas,
and the currents swirled about me;
all your waves and breakers
swept over me.

4 I said, 'I have been banished
from your sight;
yet I will look again
toward your holy temple.'

Also a special thanks to Anette and Eugene for leading us in our worship songs. Great job you two.
I also have added some photos from our Thanksgiving Luncheon. I will down load them to our photos on the side also.

"Commitment "
"To Thanksgiving", that was our message Sunday. And our scripture reading came from the book of:

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving thanks.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his [a] ;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

And a special thanks to Tony and his wife for a great job in leading us in our worship songs. Also thanks to Annette for leading us in our Tithes and Offering song.

I will be downloading some of the photos that I took this past Sunday to our photo section, later today. Also just a reminder that there is still a few names on the Angel-Tree. Please stop by and pick up a name.

    Update Time

    Hello Gift of Grace Family Members:

    I hope everyone's Wednesday is going well. Just a reminder of tonights Bible Study.
    Also please remember that Sunday December 2, 2007 is the last day to bring in your toy for the YMCA Youth Christmas. If you haven't picked a name please see the Angel-Tree at the entrance of the worship center on Sunday. Once you pick a name please let Rochelle know so that we can take the name of the list. I was looking for some fun facts to put on our site and I have found some that I will share with you later in the week as it starts on the 18th of November. But here is a list of some of the scriptures that have giving thanks in them.

    Not ALL, but SOME verses about giving thanks....
    Leviticus 22:29
    And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.

    I Chronicles 16:34
    O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

    Psalm 26:7
    That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

    Psalm 30:4
    Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

    Psalm 69:30
    I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving

    Psalm 79:13
    So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

    Psalm 92:1
    It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

    Psalm 95:2
    Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him

    There is more to this list, but I think I'll share the rest with you in another post. I for one thought this was interesting when I was searching for some fun facts for our site and came across these.
    Also just another reminder if you are having a birthday, anniversary or something you would like to share with our GOG family please let us know the month, day and we will put it on our site. Also we need all GOG family members name, address so that we can update our files. Thanks. Well I am going to close this post for now. God Please and have a great day.

    (I also found this when I was online searching, and it was Last weeks message.)

    "How to be Fisher's of Men"
    This was this weeks message from Pastor Sam, and the scripture lesson came from the book of:

    Mark 1:1-22

    Mark 1
    John the Baptist Prepares the Way
    1The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.[a]

    2It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
    "I will send my messenger ahead of you,
    who will prepare your way"[b]—
    3"a voice of one calling in the desert,
    'Prepare the way for the Lord,
    make straight paths for him.' "[c] 4And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7And this was his message: "After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8I baptize you with[d] water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
    The Baptism and Temptation of Jesus
    9At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

    12At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, 13and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
    The Calling of the First Disciples
    14After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

    16As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." 18At once they left their nets and followed him.

    19When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
    Jesus Drives Out an Evil Spirit
    21They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.

    A special thanks to Annette and Eugene for leading us in our worship songs, great job guys.

    Thanks to Orlando M. and family for sharing their home on Wednesday for our Bible Study.
    Our Subject was Worship in Spirit and Fruit and the scripture lesson came from the book of:

    John 16:13-16
    13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

    16"In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."

    Also we have some exciting calendar events coming up, also remember that Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 7:00am is our Building Fund Garage Sale. So please come out and give your support. The garage sale will be held at the YMCA. If you have anything that you want to get rid of please bring it by.
    God Bless and Have a great Day.

    Life is Short

    They say it takes a minute to find a special person,
    an hour to appreciate them.
    A day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

    Introducing
    Gift of Grace's Angel-Tree

    It’s that time of year again! Christmas is right around the corner. So the Gift of Grace is introducing the Angel-Tree. Starting November 4, 2007 the Angel-Tree will be placed at the entrance of our worship room. Stop by and choose a name of a child for you to purchase a gift for this Christmas.

    We get the names of the children from the YMCA after School Youth Program. So pick a name and please let Pastor Sam or Rochelle know, so that we can take that name of our list.
    This will be at the entrance of the worship center for the next couple of Sundays. So lets all help our YMCA after school youth program.
    And for those who missed our service on Sunday here is great message from Pastor Sam:
    "How GOD can use Struggles for GOOD"

    Our Scripture lesson was from the book of:
    James 5:1-11
    James 5
    Warning to Rich Oppressors
    1Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. 2Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.[a] 6You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.
    Patience in Suffering
    7Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. 9Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!

    10Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

    Also we want to thank Anette K, and Eugene P for a great job on this past Sunday's worship songs. Great job you two. Also remember this Saturday is our Building Fund Garage Sale at the YMCA at 7:00am. If you have stuff and need help in getting it there please let Pastor Sam know. I have some more pictures to down load from last Sunday service, I will down load them later in the week and will have them in our photo bucket on the left hand side of our page. Also we have reached over 2,000 views to our page.
    I hope that you all have a great night and May the Angels watch over you all.

    Special Prayer
    Good evening, I had my meeting with Pastor Sam and he told me that there is a little girl out there who needs a heart transplant, her name is Ashton Parks, the daughter of Pastor Larry Parks. So I thought it would be nice for us all to pray for this little girl. So when your praying tonight for what we are thankful for, lets take a extra minute to pray for Ashton. Also lets keep in our prayer Sister Peggy's brother Albert and sister Ula. I will close this for tonight and have some more new and exciting updates for you tomorrow and through out the weekend. Have a great night and God Bless all of our Gift of Grace Family and our friends and neighbors.

    Romans 8:37-39

    37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
